DAY 24 - BACK ON THE WAGON!

Well today we are back to our healthy ways. I am so glad that we are. Last night we felt awful. I had to take tums again for the digestion issue I was having. To think I have not had any issues for the last 3 weeks. Ricky has to take alka-seltzer because he was having issues as well. We truly have realized that it's not worth eating such foods. So now we are back to eating right and feel better already. Thankfully it looks like we only gained a pound from this ordeal, but that's probably because we spent a lot of time on the toilet flushing all that stuff out. LOL

So below is what we've had to eat for today.

BREAKFAST: (SS) Chocolate Shake and SilhouetteStik weightloss drink

SNACK: (SS) Soup and QuikStik Energy Drink

LUNCH: (SS) Bars and tea

DINNER: Tilapia and 2 cups of veggies and tea.

SNACK: Rick had chili lime puffs and I had the chocolate puffs. Also had tea.

DAY 21, 22, AND 23...TIME TO CATCH UP!

I hate that I have fallen behind in my blogging. There's real no excuse and I need to be more committed to writing in our blog. I feel it's the best way to stay accountable.

First I must post our current weight.

Rick weighed in at 198.2, making that a 3lbs loss for the week! Woohoo, Ricky is doing so well for a total of 14lbs loss!!! I'm so very proud of him.

I weighed in at 190.6, making that a 1.8 lb loss. I was hoping to break the 190's but that didn't happen. But I can't feel down that I didn't lose more. It is what it is and the main thing is that I'm feeling real good. This makes it a total of 7.8lbs loss so far for me.

Now for the latest. Today we decided to have a cheat night for dinner. As excited as we were to taste our favorite foods, we quickly found ourselves to be quite disappointed. Rick had hot wings with beer and I ordered a pepperoni and mushroom pizza with beer. Rick ended up eating 8 wings, a slice of pizza and 3 glasses of beer. I had 2 wings, 2 slices of pizza and 2 glasses of beer. Of course we felt very full and left the restaurant feeling less than satisfied. Within an hour, we both had terrible headaches and a heavy bloated feeling in our stomachs. Was it worth it? Yes and No...No because we both feel like crap and remembered this feeling all too well. Yes...because it is a harsh reminder that food really does impact how we feel on a day to day basis. We do not want to feel this way again and look forward to returning to our healthy way of eating.

Our future cheat night will consist of a few more calories than usual, but consisting of healthy food choices. It's just not worth it, since we feel so disgusting right now.

So here's to a new week and looking forward to cleaning out our systems from the crap we ate! :)

For those of you who know the feeling we are experiencing after our cheat meal, we encourage you to commit to eating a healthier diet. It is amazing how much better you will feel. Of course we would recommend our Silhouette Solution. :) But whatever you choose, just do it! It is so worth it!

DAY 20TH - FEELING ENERGIZED!!

I've been really dragging with the exercising and today I finally decided to do the Wii Active again. I just need to set my mind to do it and not put it off. I'm so glad I did because I got a real good workout.

Today I received my personalized multivitamins from the Trump Network program we are on. I had to send in a urine test kit that I purchased through this program. Basically this test determines what my body is lacking. No need to be taking unnecessary supplements that my body doesn't need. I got back a report stating the deficiencies and they create a special multivitamin blend according to the results. I was pleased to discover that I was actually in better shape (metabolically speaking) than I thought. But I still had some deficiencies and I'm looking forward to seeing if they make a noticeable difference.

I also received a Weight Loss/Energy Drink from this same program. I tried it today right before my workout and I feel more energized/revived now. No jittery feeling at all. I'm feeling real excited about these new products.

Now I need to get Ricky back to working out as well. But he's been a little busy this week. He did reach a milestone and had dropped to 198.8 as of this morning. :) I weighed in at 191.00. I'm hoping I can break the 190's by this weekend...we'll see.

Here's what we've eaten today.

BREAKFAST: (SS)Shake and QuikStik Energy Drink

SNACK: (SS) Soup and Tea

LUNCH: (SS) Bar and Tea

We didn't have our mid-day snack...things got busy. Will save it for later tonight.

DINNER: (SS) Cobb Salad and Unsweetened Ice Tea

DAY 19 - JUST ANOTHER WEDNESDAY

Nothing much to report. No exercising either. I know we need to get our butt in gear. Right now the one thing that had been on our minds, is finding a job. We are making sure to stay on our program and have not swayed from it.

I think we need to make sure to schedule our walks/workouts in the morning and get it out of the way, since later during the day things just get busy. We just need to get on gear with the exercising.

What we've eaten today.

BREAKFAST: (SS) Strawberry Shake and QuikStik Energy Drink

SNACK: (SS) Soup and tea

LUNCH: Ricky has an (SS) Bar and I had a shrimp salad from Applebee's (had lunch with a friend.

SNACK: (SS) Bars

DAY 18 - TOM INTERFERE'S WITH MY LIFE

I know I posted about TOM yesterday, but it really gets in the way of things. There are months I get it real bad and awful cramping. To the point, that all I want to do is lay down. Well this is a bad month. So no exercise for me and I guess Ricky must have sympathy symptoms of TOM, because he hasn't exercised either. LOL

But the good news is we are still following our program. :) I have been failing with the fluid intake. I need to make sure I have a bottle available, because when I get caught up with something, I tend to forget. So there's a few issues I need to change.
I'm hoping that tomorrow I'll be feeling better than the last two days.

What we've had to eat today:

BREAKFAST: (SS) Oatmeal and QuikStik Energy Drink

SNACK: (SS) Bars and tea

LUNCH: (SS) Soup and tea

SNACK: (SS) Bars and tea

DINNER: 5oz of Chicken with 2 cups of veggies and tea

SNACK: SS) Bar and QuikStik Wind Down Drink

DAY 17TH - SWEET TOOTH

Well what can I say, it's Monday! I really don't have much to report today. TOM is here, so I'm craving sweets. Thank goodness the Silhouette Solution plan has plenty of sweet snacks to eat. Problem is, I want to eat more than the allotted amount. But I won't let that control me. I want to see better results on my next weigh in. I didn't exercise today like I should have. Neither one of us did. We just have so much on our minds right now, trying to find jobs. I know we shouldn't let this get to us, but with TOM here, I just didn't have the energy. But I have been drinking plenty and staying on the plan.

What we've eaten today so far.

BREAKFAST: (SS) Strawberry Shake and QuickStik Energy Drinks

SNACK: (SS) Bars and Tea and Water

LUNCH: (SS) Ricky had the Tomato Soup and I had the Chicken Cream Soup, and tea

SNACK: (SS) Bar and Tea

DINNER: Cobb Salad and Tea

SNACK: (SS) Bar and tea

DAY 16 - JUST ANOTHER DAY

Well it's Sunday and nothing really exciting to post about.

I'm going to try to drink more water instead of the Crystal Light tea, since the tea does have calories. I decided to squeeze some fresh lemon juice into it, to make it easier to drink since water is a big problem for me. I'm just not a huge water drinker.

I was going to do the Wii Active today, but I'm just in one of those blah moods today. Just not in the mood. But for sure tomorrow I will do it. Ricky is not feeling that great today either, so we're just going to chill today.

We got a late start to our day, so breakfast did not happen until some time after 10:30 am.

Here's what we've had to eat for today.

BREAKFAST: (SS) Oatmeal and QuikStik Energy Drinks

SNACK: (SS) Bars and tea

LUNCH: We skipped lunch since we got up late and decided to have dinner at 4:30pm. So we have 3 (SS) Snacks we will leave for later.

DINNER: Top Sirloin Steak on the grill with Asparagus (DELICIOUS)
Ricky had tea and I had 3 glasses of water with lemon in it. :)

SNACK: (SS)Bars - Ricky had tea and I had water

SNACK: (SS) Puff Snacks

SNACK: (SS) Hot Chocolate

Just want to note that I use Mrs. Dash spices to season our food I make. I use no salt.

DAY 15 - THE START OF OUR THIRD WEEK AND WEIGH IN

Well just like I thought, I didn't lose much. I am a bit disappointed. But I can not let this discourage me. Hopefully this coming week will be better, but not sure since "that time of the month" is this week. Anyhow here is our weigh-in stats.

Ricky weighed in at 201.2, having a 3.2 lbs loss for this week for a total of 11 lbs.

Iliana 192.4 lbs, having a 1 lb. loss this week for a total of 6lbs .

Ok I need to be honest. I'm mad. Only 6 stupid pounds, while Ricky has lost 11 pounds. This is where I'll get so upset that I'll cave into the bad foods out of feeling frustrated. But I'm not. I will continue this path, even though I'm not real happy right now. :(

Today has been a wacky day in our eating too. Rick was in a class all day so both of us had our "dinner" during lunch and had a half salad at Applebee's. While he went to one location and I was at the one near our home, we both had the same experience. They didn't give you much of a salad. So when he got home from his class, we were very hungry. So we decided to go out and had another salad. So we went off our schedule, but at least it was a good choice that was made.

I sure hope I have a better weight loss week. I know I'm exercising more and I'm building muscle, but I was hoping for a better weight loss than the 1 lb. loss I had. I know...I know, it's better than gaining. But I've been working real hard or so I thought, so it's tough to swallow.

What we had to eat today.

BREAKFAST: (SS) Bars and QuikStik Drink

SNACK: (SS) Bars and tea

LUNCH: Applebee's salad and 2 glasses of tea

SNACK: (SS) Bars

DINNER: Ricky had his (SS) Bar and but I did not. Then we both had TY Cobb Salad and 2 glasses of unsweetened tea.

SNACK: NO SNACK JUST TEA

DAY 14 - FRUSTRATION

I'm not going to deny that I haven't been weighing myself everyday and this week I'm not seeing much of a loss. I'm really trying real hard not to get discouraged because of what the scale is showing and instead, relying on how my body is feeling. My body is feeling a whole lot better than it did before. I have more energy and my clothes are fitting better. But oh that dreaded scale, why do we depend on it so much? Tomorrow is our official weigh in for the week and I'll be very surprised if I have more than a pound loss or if any at all.

I will keep telling myself to keep trying and not to give up!

Today I worked out again using the Wii Active. The squats kill me! LOL Today I had to hold the squats for 5 seconds before I could go back up and those were tough and I only had to do two! LOL It will be exciting when I can do these kind of exercise easily.

I was very happy that Rick did the Wii Active yesterday as well. He was working up a sweat and even woke up a bit sore today. LOL He's really doing good and you can tell he's losing weight. I'm so proud of him! :)

I will admit, it's a lot easier doing this with your spouse. :)

Since Rick and I were without our kids tonight, we decided to make it a date night. We went to our usually Friday night sports bar. Surprisingly, we really weren't feeling tempted to "cheat" on our diet. Usually, Rick would have a big plate of hot wings with bleu cheese, fries and several rounds of 2 for 1 beers. I would usually have a large Philly Cheese Steak sandwich and a couple rounds of 2 for 1 glasses of wine. But tonight was different, we both ordered unsweetened tea and 2 large Cobb Salads with a balsamic vinegarette dressing. We were really taken back when the salads were delivered to our table. They seemed huge and loaded with much more extras than we had remembered. We both went sparingly with the dressing and nibbled through the salad avoiding the high calorie and high fat extras. We both found that we were more than satisfied after finishing less than half of the salad. We both probably ate a little more than we should have but we both pushed the unfinished salads away and felt very proud of our selves for having self control.

So here's what we've had to eat for the day.

BREAKFAST: (SS) Bars and QuikStik Energy Drinks

SNACK: (SS) Vanilla Shake and QuikStik Energy Drinks

LUNCH: (SS) Bars and Crystal Light Tea

SNACK: (SS) Strawberry/Vanilla Shake

DINNER: (Restaurant) - Cobb Salad / Unsweetened Tea

SNACK: Skipped last snack

Day 13 - WORKING UP A SWEAT

Well I'm happy to say that I was able to finish the workout routine on the Wii Active today. I was able to manage through the pain in my quads and boy do they hurt now. But it's good, that means I'm working the muscles. I'm really impressed so far with the workout I'm getting. I'm so glad Ricky gave it a try as well. Wonder if he'll do it today...we shall see.

You know something we have noticed, is that our sense of taste and smell is more sensitive now. Seems like before the plan, it didn't matter how much spices I put on meals, it just never seemed enough.

So far we are doing real well on this plan. Just wonder if I'm going to see much of a loss for this week since PMS is creeping around the corner and I tend to bloat a lot during this time.

I will admit that I have been craving a glass of wine. I like unwinding with a glass in the evening. But losing the weight means a lot more to me than the glass of wine and I just need to keep reminding myself of that. Now if only we can find a job, then life will feel a whole lot better.

WHAT WE'VE EATEN TODAY:

BREAKFAST: (SS) Oatmeal and QuikTip Energy Drink

SNACK: (SS) Bar and Tea

LUNCH: (SS) Soup and Tea

SNACK: (SS) Puff Snacks

DINNER: (SS) Chicken and 2 Cups of Broccoli & Cauliflower

Day 12 - OH THE PAIN...

Yesterday I tried the Wii Active and could not finish the workout routine. The measly 8 squats it had me do, killed me! LOL Boy I am so out of shape...it's so sad! I could barely do the squats. To be honest, I needed help from my cocktail table to push me back up. I was going to do it again today, but the pain in my quads is just too much for me to attempt this. So I'm taking a break and will do it tomorrow regardless of how these legs feel. No pain, no gain huh? LOL

Now my goal is to motivate Ricky to do it with me. ;)

It's incredible how easy it is to gain weight, but how difficult it is to lose it. Even though on this program it seems it's going to be easy, but exercising sure doesn't seem as easy. LOL

Last night I went to bed with a headache and it was still there to greet me in the morning when I woke up. We're thinking that it's due to either MSG that restaurants use on cheap steaks to make them more tender. Last night we ended up going out and had a steak salad. It was actually good, but of course we didn't think about the ingredients they use to cook the steak. This is certainly something that one needs to keep in mind when going out. Now that we're relatively toxic free, we have noticed that we are more sensitive on how foods make us feel. Within hours of eating the steak salad, we both began noticing a dull headache. By morning we both had a mild case of diarrhea and we strongly feel it's due to the MSG and the fatty meats restaurants tend to use.

Anyhow below is what we've had to eat for the day.

BREAKFAST: (SS) Strawberry Shakes and QuikStik Energy Drinks

SNACK: (SS) Puff Snacks and tea

LUNCH: (SS) Bars and QuikStik Energy Drinks and more tea

SNACK: (SS) Vanilla Shake

DINNER: Blackened Tilapia over a salad and tea/water

SNACK: (SS) Bars and tea/water

Day 11 - BUSY DAY

Wow it's 2:45 and it's been the first chance I've had to sit here to update our blog.

We found a used dryer to replace are broken one THANK GOODNESS. But now have an extra washer because they were selling it as a set. But heck with our luck, we may need it...so it's in storage.

The last two nights I haven't been sleeping so well. Waking up feeling real tired. Maybe because we have been going to bed real late and having to get up real early? LOL

Today I am going to do the WII Active. I will post later and let you know how it went. I was very disappointed with the WII Fit, it's not challenging at all for an adult. But I heard that the WII Active makes you break out a sweat, so we shall see.

I'm finding with each passing day, I'm becoming more disciplined and committed to this lifestyle change. I sure hope our experience will help encourage others.

So what have we eaten today?

BREAKFAST: (SS) Oatmeal and QuikStik Energy drinks
and tea/water.

SNACK: (SS) Bar and tea/water

LUNCH: (SS) Soup and tea/water

SNACK: (SS) Bar and tea/water (When on the go, the bars are the best to have.

DINNER: Steak Salad and unsweetened tea.

SNACK: (SS) Chocolate Puffs.

It's now 3:43 and I tried the WII Active. I could not finish the workout, because it literally kicked my ass. I'm sure Ricky will do better than me, but the squats killed me. Boy I am truly out of shape. Tomorrow I know I will feel pain! LOL

Day 10- It's Monday, what can we say?

Good Morning friends! I woke up feeling tired today. Maybe it's because we went to bed around 1AM? I'm sure Ricky is tired as well. I hope this week brings some good news for us, something to be hopeful about. Job hunting is no fun, especially when most doors seem to keep closing on you. *Sigh*

Yesterday we bought Wii Active. A friend told Rick about it and she really works up a good sweat on this program. It has different exercises and I'm looking forward to starting it...I think. LOL Just not feeling it right now.

Will post more about our day later.

What we've had to eat for today...

Breakfast: (SS) Shakes and QuikStik energy drinks (we need it today for sure).

Snack: (SS) Bars and tea (as we drink all of the tea, we keep drinking more, always having a glass full).

Lunch: (SS) Soup and more tea

Snack: (SS) Bars and tea

Dinner: (SS) Tilapia and green beans tea.

Snack: (SS) Shakes

DAY 9 - JUST ANOTHER DAY

Nothing exciting to post. I'm not in the most happiest of moods today.
Our dryer broke down and after selling a washer and dryer set less than 2 weeks ago, that we had in our storage unit. We figured it's been sitting there for almost 2 years, why not sell it? Arrrgggh can't get a break can we?

Anyhow I'm not letting this problem get in the way. We have stayed on track and very determined. Last night the kids baked chocolate chip cookies. Oh did they smell so delicious and would have loved to sink my teeth into one. But instead we chose to have our delicious (SS) hot chocolate. It really helped get over those cookies. LOL

What we've eaten for today:

Breakfast: We both had (SS) oatmeal and QuikStik drinks

Snack: (SS) bars with bottle of Crystal Lite tea.

Lunch: (SS) Shakes and glas of tea.

Snack: (SS) Puff Snacks

Dinner: 5oz Chicken Breast and 2 Cups of Veggies

DAY 8 - OFFICIAL FIRST WEIGH IN! START OF 2nd WEEK!

*DRUM ROLL PLEASE* :)

Today is the start of our 2nd week on this program.

Rick weighed in this morning at 204.4, having a 7lbs 8oz loss for his first week! Wooohooo way to go sweetie! :)

Iliana weighed in this morning at 193.4, having a 5lbs loss! I'm very happy with that. :)

I still am amazed how easy this program truly is to follow. I never feel like I'm starving or depriving myself. We are really enjoying the way we feel.

This coming week, we are going to step up our exercising. I'd like to get into doing aerobic exercising. I will update on this more during the week.

What we've eaten for today:

Breakfast: We both had (SS) bars, along with our QuikStik drinks and also our Crystal Light Tea.

Morning Snack: We both had (SS) Puff snacks and tea.

Lunch: (SS) Strawberry Shakes, more tea

Snack: (SS) Vanilla Shake, more tea

Dinner: 5oz Top Sirloin Steak with 2 Cups of Mixed Veggies and tea.

Snack: (SS) Hot Chocolate

During the day we try to drink as much as possible. It's hard to remember exactly how much we drink during the day, but we constantly have a glass full.

I'm real excited to see how things go this week. :)

Friday, July 10, 2009

DAY 7 - WHAT A DAY!

Here we are, 7 days into this program and we are doing real good! :)

Today has been an odd day for me...I can't speak for Rick. But I don't know just been feeling kind of edgy. I know it's not from being on this program, because I feel good where that's concerned. Guess it's just stress. The good news though that normally when I have felt this way, I would go to food to make me feel better. I guess it would temporarily take my mind off of things. I haven't had the need for it. I won't deny that they thought popped into my mind, but it's different this time.

Someone today actually offered me a drink and as good as it sounded, I said no. It felt good, knowing that I was strong enough and committed to not give into those kinds of temptations. I guess I'm finally on the right track. I think I'm going to pat myself on the back for holding up so well. :)

Tomorrow is our official weigh in day. I will admit I have been weighing myself this week and not posting it. This is something I wish I could just stop doing and weigh myself just once a week. That will be another goal for myself. Ricky loves to weigh himself everyday and at times in the evening as well. Talk about obsessive behavior huh? LOL Anyhow, even if I don't lose more for this week, I'll still be happy. I do feel so much better. I've noticed that I have not had one heartburn episodes like before. My stomach has not been upset and I don't feel like a bloated cow. I feel energized and lighter.

Today I noticed that Ricky's face is slimming down too. He's feeling real good and really loves how easy this program is to follow. Now if only it would stop raining here so we can go out and walk. Maybe tomorrow? We shall see.

So what have we had to eat today? Let's see...

Breakfast: We both had the (SS) Oatmeal and QuikStik energy drinks and tea.

Morning Snack: We both had an (SS) bar, along with a bottle of Crystal Light tea.

Lunch: We decided to have our main meal and had a salad with blackened fish.
2 glasses of unsweet tea.

Afternoon Snack: We both had the (SS) Puff Ball snacks with tea.

Dinner: We both had the (SS) Strawberry Shake (YUM) and more tea.

Evening Snack: We both had the (SS) Chocolate Balls and more tea.

Right now it's 9:26pm and Ricky is trying to figure out what is wrong with our stupid dryer. We had one in storage for more than a year and sold it just last week. Now the one we have in the house has decided to break down. Go figure huh? So he's not very happy right now.

Anyhow, tomorrow shall be another day. :)

Here's my cartoon for the day.

Thursday, July 9, 2009

DAY 6 - GOING STRONG :)

Wow it's Thursday! Two more days and it will be a week since we started. So far we are doing very well. There are moments when I crave to have the usual unhealthy foods I was accustom to, but it's unbelievable how I'm able to shake that idea right out of my mind. I think a lot has to do with the way I've been feeling. I feel lighter and have lots more energy. I can't believe that the foods we were used to eating were bogging us down so much. We are actually in better moods, considering the stresses of life we are going through. I also notice that we seem to be more alert and focused.

We went to Walmart and passed their deli, smelling all the wonderful foods. But then looked around at all the people that are overweight and decided we don't want to look like that anymore. It's amazing that once you commit to a plan and set your mind to it, it's really not so difficult. I truly feel that this time Rick and I are going to stick to this. We haven't caved in and I think with each passing day, we just get stronger and more committed to this change in our lifestyle. We really like the way we are feeling and only hope that down the road, we can eventually motivate our friends to follow our footsteps. But first, we must focus on ourselves before we truly can help others.

FOODS EATEN TODAY:

Breakfast: We both had the (SS) Chocolate Shake
and QuikStik Energy Drinks

Snack: (SS) Bars and Crystal Lite Teas

Lunch: (SS) Soups and more tea

Snack: Rick had the (SS)bar and I had the (SS) BBQ Puffs
Lots more tea... we keep filling the glass.

Dinner: 5oz Sirloin Steak with 2 cups of broccoli and cauliflower
More tea and water.

Snack: (SS) Hot Chocolate (CAN'T YOU TELL WE LOVE THIS SNACK)

We have not been able to walk, thanks to all the rain. Maybe tonight it will hold up and we can do our walk.

It's now 10:39pm and no we didn't get to walk. It's been raining most of the day here. Maybe tomorrow will be a better day. I'm just real happy that we are doing so well on this. I still have to make the kids a separate dinner and it was real hard not to dig into their macaroni and cheese I made...but I just kept telling myself why it wasn't good for me, even though it was difficult.

With each day, we will grow stronger. :)

DAY 5 - HEADACHES

Good Morning! It's Iliana posting again. :) Since yesterday I've been having the horrid headaches I tend to get when going through a weight loss program. I need to research on why this tends to happen to me, because it's really driving me up the wall feeling this way. Besides the headaches, I'm truly feeling good. I'm feeling lighter and I don't feel bloated like before. I know I still have a long road ahead of me, but I'm truly feeling different. Ricky is looking pretty good too. I can tell he's not bloated as well. :)

Yesterday we went out for dinner, but Ricky and I made a good choice. We are finding out that even when you go out, there are good choices out there. We went to a sports bar and had their fish over a salad. It was very good and very filling. Of course no beer and had unsweetened ice tea. I will admit it was tough seeing the burgers go by and seeing the wings and beer. But I just kept reminding myself of how I want to feel and look. That eating those things are eventually going to kill me if I don't change things. So I'm feeling more empowered when I'm able to get through these moments.

So far so good. Let's see what the rest of today holds. :)

WHAT WE'VE EATEN FOR TODAY:

Breakfast: We both had (SS) Oatmeal and QuikStik drinks.

Had water and tea like usual.

Snack: (SS)Snack Puffs - More tea

Lunch: (SS) Bars - More water and tea

Dinner: Tilapia with green beans

Snack: (SS) Shakes - made them into puddings.

Late Snack: Since we didn't have it in the afternoon we had it late night. (SS) Hot chocolate. More tea.

DAY 4 - GETTING THROUGH ANOTHER DAY

Things are going well. I won't deny that from time to time, I do crave certain foods. But as quickly as those cravings come to mind, I shake them off. Rick seems to not have this issue, but is enjoying feeling lighter...not feeling bloated and sluggish anymore.

Yesterday we went for a brisk 20 minute walk. This program recommends that you start walking 30 minutes, three times a week. But it's been raining here, so we couldn't walk the full 30 minutes. Slowly but surely, we will walk further and for longer times. Our goal is to eventually start running. This is something that Rick misses a lot. He's hoping that next year, he'll be able to do the Disney Marathon again. Who knows, maybe I'll have enough courage to run a half marathon for the first time.

Right now, I'm just setting small goals. My goal is to make it through the first week. I don't want to set up high expectations for myself. But in all honesty, so far this has not been real difficult. I think doing this together with Rick makes it even easier. I think I would have a tough time doing this on my own, if he decided to chow down on some wings and beer in front of me. LOL But knowing that we are committed and seriously doing this together really helps.

Ok so what did we eat so far today?

Breakfast: We both had our (SS) shakes.

Rick had a QuikStik drink and I had my Crystal Light tea.

Mid Snack: (SS) Bars
Rick had QuikStik drink and I had tea.

More tea.

Lunch: We both had our soups.

Mid Snack: We both had another bar.

Rick had a QuikStik drink and I had my tea. :)

I want to state that we are constantly drinking either water, Crystal Light tea or the QuikStik drinks. We always have a glass full of either of these drinks throughout the day.

I will update the rest later tonight. But that's it for right now.

DAY THREE - BROKE THE FIRST RULE OF WEIGHT LOSS

No we didn't cheat, but it's really Rick's fault. LOL He had to get out that darn scale this morning instead of waiting for our once a week weigh in. Of course I had to follow in his foot steps. LOL
We will try not to make this a habit, but I'm glad we got on the scale because this gave us a spark of hope and motivation to continue.

This morning Rick weighed in at 207lbs. So in only 2 days, Rick has managed to lose 5.2lbs! I find that to be remarkable. But we also have to keep in mind that the first week is usually a lot of water weight loss. But still 5lbs is still 5lbs. :) We are not going to get too excited yet.

So thanks to Ricky, I decided to weigh myself of course. ;) I weighed in at 194.8lbs. So in 2 days, I managed to lose 4lbs. I think it's awesome that in only two days I've managed to lose this amount.

We haven't felt like we're starving and actually feeling more energy. It's nice not feeling bloated and bogged down.

I will post the foods we've had for the day later. Just wanted to update everyone on our progress thus far.

What foods we ate for today:

Breakfast: We both had the (SS) Oatmeal
QuikStik energy drink

MidSnack: (SS) Bars
Rick: QuikStik drink
Iliana: Tea

Lunch: We both had (SS) Soup
Water and tea

MidSnack: (SS) Puff Snacks
More water and tea

Dinner: 5oz Chicken cooked on the Foreman Grill
2 Cups of Broccoli and Cauliflower
More tea

More tea

I love ending the evening with the Hot Chocolate. I can't believe how good it tastes! :)

DAY TWO - NOT AS BAD AS WE THOUGHT

Well it's our 2nd day into our Silhouette Solution program. We did real good on our first day. Surprisingly, neither one of us felt like we were starving. Psychologically, we would have liked more food, but this is something we both knew would be an issue. We have to reprogram our stomach-mind connection. To be honest with you, we never really felt hungry. We did manage to have frequent visits to the bathroom from all the drinking, which is crucial when attempting to lose weight. We both found ourselves a little gassy towards the evening and unfortunately my poor husband had a hard time being around me. LOL I guess our bodies were detoxifying. :)

WHAT WE ATE ON OUR FIRST DAY:

Anyhow, we started the day with the Silhouette Solution's (SS) oatmeal at 9:30am (yes, we slept in). We also had the QuikStik energy drinks (16.9oz).

By 11:30am we had (SS) Soup. Rick had the Mediterranean Tomato Soup, which he really seemed to enjoy. I had the Newbury Chicken Cream Soup and I really enjoyed the flavor. It was so good, I could of eaten a bigger bowl of the soup, but it was satisfying. :)

We also had Crystal Light Peach tea along with our soup and water. We try to drink as much as possible between each meal to help keep us satisfied throughout the day. I think this is one main key to this program and of course it's flushing the built up toxins out of our system.

About 2pm we both had the (SS) puff snacks. Rick had the Chili-Lime Puffs and I had the BBQ Puffs. Again, we are so used to eating big amounts that when we finished these snacks, we really would of wanted a lot more. But again, it did leave us satisfied.

Around this time we also had another QuikStik energy drink. Rick has become a big fan of these energy drinks. He used to be addicted to the old "ephedrine" energy drinks until they were banned for being so harmful and then he began consuming cases of "Monster Energy Drinks". He enjoyed the increased energy these drinks gave him but hated the "jitters" they caused and the "caffeine headaches". The "Quik Stik" energy drinks are caffeine free and are amazingly very effective.

At 4:30pm we each had a (SS) bar. Rick had the Blueberry Pomegranate Bar and I had the Peanut Passion bar. We really enjoyed these bars.

More water and tea.

At 7pm we had 4oz of lean top sirloin with two cups of mixed vegetables. By this time, we truly appreciated this meal. Again, we could of gone with a 12oz steak, but we have to change our mind set and eventually we won't be thinking this way. We were very satisfied, even though our brains were saying "Hey fill it up some more, will ya?". One thing that Rick noticed, is that he felt more energized after eating, instead of feeling bogged down and bloated. Rick remembers from his personal training days, that this is how one should feel after eating. Again, we have to reprogram our way of eating.

We had more water/tea with our dinner.

Around 9:30pm we had our final snack. We had the (SS) Chocolate Puffs. Oh boy, now this will be a good PMS fix! LOL We both enjoyed it very much and wished we had more crumbs to lick off, it was that good! We then finished off the evening with another QuikStik drink designed to help you wind down for the evening.

Throughout the day, we found it was quite funny that as soon as I felt my bladder fill up (which was often), Rick would run to the other bathroom to do the same. LOL But it wasn't as funny when I had to get up twice during the middle of the night! I'm sure our bodies will adjust.

DAY TWO:

Again we slept in...heck it's the weekend! LOL I was really eager to eat my usual scrambled eggs, bacon, etc. But we have made a commitment and I know that in the long run things will get easier and we will be glad we made this choice.

So around 9:30am, we chose to have the (SS) shakes. Rick had the Vanilla Creme and I had the Strawberry Symphony. We were very amazed at how good these shakes tasted. They were only 8 oz. , but it actually was quite satisfying along with the 16oz of Wind Up QuikStik.

About 11:30am we were ready for our next snack and chose to have the (SS) food bars.
We try to make sure we drink as much as possible between the meals and along with them as well. Rick enjoys water, but the Crystal Light is my preference.

Around 1:30pm we had the (SS) Puff Snacks, along with the afternoon QuikStik energy drink.

It's now 4:00 and we are both having the Crystal Light Peach tea, while relaxing at home.

We are getting ready to head out to Applebees. We already know that we are going to have a small piece of chicken or steak, mixed vegetables and unsweet tea.

It's been said that the first week is the most difficult. But what I am surprised is that I have not been overly hungry and no headaches like I would usually get when starting on a diet. I think that by eating every 2 hours or so, really makes a difference.

Well it's now 5:30pm. Rick and I just got back from having dinner at Applebees. We had the Weight Watchers Steak and Portebello dinner. We had them add extra veggies in place of the potatoes. We had two glasses of unsweetened ice tea and to our amazement, we felt very full. :)

To think, we still have two more (SS) snacks to go...Woohoo!!!!

We're thinking of making the (SS) pudding and the (SS) hot chocolate before we head off to bed. Not bad for the second day huh? I think it's a lot easier when you have someone to go through this with.

I'm already looking forward to the end of the week to see what are results will be like for the first week on this program. :)

Before we end this post, we want to let you all know that both Rick and I decided to visit our family doctor before starting this program. It just seemed like the right thing to do. We also had a full blood workup done just to make sure it was safe for us to begin this program. Plus it also gives us the opportunity to compare the results once we reach our goal.

Here's a little humor to end the day with.

DAY ONE - OUR NEW BEGINNING

Together, Rick and Iliana will begin their journey on melting their fat away! :)

Where to begin...or better yet, when did our weight gain begin. For Rick it began somewhere when our relationship began and well for me, it's been an ongoing battle since I had my son 11 years ago.

I think stress was a major factor for both of us. We were both ending our previous marriages and instead of stress making us lose weight, like it affects other people, it did the opposite. Without giving it much thought, the pounds started to creep up on us. Three years ago when I met Rick, he was a Certified Trainer, so as you can see, even those with so much knowledge can be victims to the weight gaining struggles that we are faced in life. I know from my own personal experience that unless your mind is ready to commit to changing your life, you will continue to fail.

We both have tried all sorts of ways to battle this weight gaining problem. You name it, we've done it. We do great on week one and as soon as some kind of stress pops up in our lives, we end up sabotaging our plan. The feeling of failure overwhelms us and we fall back into our stress eating pattern, only to gain back our weight and a few more extra pounds. Everything we do has been together. You'd think that one of us would be strong enough to pick the other up. But we have proven time and time again that the ones we love and love us can be our own worst enemies, when it comes to weight loss.

I think we've reached a point in our lives that we are tired of the excuses we continue to provide for our failures. We are done with feeling tired, fatigued, bloated, disgusted and well I think you get where we're going with this. I'm sure there are many that can relate to our story and hope that somehow through our journey, that we can help inspire others to find a way to reclaim a healthier life.

So we're mentally committed as we have been before, but what is different this time?

It started when we were introduced to a wonderful business opportunity called the "Trump Network". Yes, the Donald J. Trump. We joined this business opportunity as a way to ease our financial stress (one of the many culprits to our weight gain). The Trump Network is a home based business, selling nutritional and health related products. As we researched the products, we discovered that the diet and nutrition plan made a lot of sense. Our education and experience allowed us to realize that the programs were sound and should work, but we needed to prove it to ourselves. We initially thought it was expensive; however, when we added up the amount of money we were spending on eating out and junk foods around the house, we quickly realized that we would actually be saving money.

Another factor that caught our attention, is that it is so easy to follow. Both Rick and I lead busy lives, which makes it difficult to plan ahead. This is yet another culprit to failing, because in order to succeed in losing weight, planning is a must and this plan has it all laid out for you.

So, this is where our journey begins. July 4th, 2009, what a perfect day to start our new life. LOL

Today, Rick weighed in at 212.2 lbs. and Iliana weighed in at 198.4 lbs.

Looking at these numbers has really upset us greatly. But there's no need to look back...we need to look ahead and begin melting the fat together!

The plan we our following is called the Silhouette Solution. We simply eat one of the Silhouette Solution meals/snacks (provided by the program), every 2 to 3 hours for a total of 5 a day. We also eat one approved meal which will include 3-5oz of lean protein and 2 cups of vegetables (or a salad if you prefer).

Of course this is going to be less food than we are in the habit of eating (no more beer and wings at our local bar & grille) and this will be the hardest habit for us to overcome. As we follow this plan and support each other, we will be creating a whole new habit, which will lead to our ultimate success.

Rick and I plan to use this blog as much as possible to not only post our progress, but to also log moments of weakness and to help us be more accountable to not only ourselves and each other, but to those of you who are following our journey.

Here's our day one pictures. We can't express enough how tough it is to share them, but we want you all to realize how real we are through this path we are taking. You might want to have a barf bag ready before you look. LOL

Rick today weighed in at 212.2 lbs.
Iliana today weighed in at 198.4 lbs.

OUR GOAL WEIGHT:

Rick would like to weigh 165lbs.
Iliana would like to weight 145lbs.
